This beautiful aerial photo highlights the simplicity of the Oregon coast at sunrise. It features the calm scene at Short Beach and Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge, with gentle waves touching the sandy shore. The sun illuminates the green and blue waters, adding a warm glow to the coast. The clear sky and serene setting create a truly magical experience.
The Story Behind the Photograph
Initially planning to photograph Cape Meares Lighthouse, I faced a road closure due to a landslide from the previous night's rain. Taking a detour added an hour to my journey, and by the time I arrived, it was too late for my intended shots. I decided to scout nearby locations for future sessions instead. Rounding a corner, I spotted a promising ocean view, so I parked, set up my drone, and took off.
Despite the delay, the sun was at a perfect height for capturing the shoreline. It cast beautiful reflections on the ocean and created dramatic shadows from the cliffs and rock...
